Kris, it's great to see those mounted on a gun. It was a pleasure to have them in hand and find/make a screw that would work. Those stocks definitely belong on some kind of big bore magnum, as large as they are!

Sold the only pair I had. Can't really tell if yours are larger, but the ones I had were very comfortable in my hand.

no longer have any hurst stocks. my hands aren't large so I couldn't really use the ones I had. all of the ones I have seen were for rather large hands. anyone know if he made stocks to measure or just a standard size?

I had a pair that came with a shooter 29-2. They were a little too large to hold comfortably, so I passed them on. They were nice though.

I guess I based my decision to label them Hurst from these threads;
Stocks by Hurst
Hurst grips on LAPD (-ish) cut-frame K-38 in Missouri
However, several of the California grip makers of the period shared some of the same designs/concepts so they could be one of the other makers. I'm confident they are not Fuzzy Farrant or Guy Hogue so that leaves Stark and Hurst. My money is on Hurst.

I vote Hurst. Of course, it's never official until OIF2 speaks.

Don't forget about Walter Stark, from LAPD and one of the pioneer makers.
This first picture is from Jeff Coopers book.
Note the large, high-placed diamonds.
I have a couple more pictures of stocks that I know for sure are Walter
Starks. They are on LAPD Chief Ed Davis's guns, which I bought years ago after
Chief Davis retired and the guns were sold at a Jeff Faintich auction. Chief Davis wrote a
note to me, saying that Stark made the grips for him.
Here is one of the two guns that have Walter Stark stocks. The front corner of the frame has
been cut off.
Here is the other gun that belonged to Chief Davis. This one does not have a cut frame.
For the record, here is another page from Jeff Coopers book.

Thanks for info M.P.

Mike,
The insides are a little different (yours lacking the raised areas) but they are both made by the same maker, and that's almost certainly Hurst

410bore:
That picture came right out of Jeff Coopers book, so nominally I would assume he
was right.
There were several LAPD officers that made grips. Walter Stark seems to have been
one of the first, and in turn, he taught one or more of the others. Farrant was one
of his students.

Mike, you were not the "Mike" I was referring to. I meant Mike/VM

I've got two pair of Hurst stocks, courtesy of Fred Romero. I'll try to post a pic of the pair on my old issue M-66 at home (other pair is on my Davis-worked M686 DM gun; #3 daughter has that one).
I don't recall if I can post pics on here or not; we'll see.

I may be one of those suggesting Joe Blackford - not to be confused with Bill Blackwood!! - from the two references and one set of photos by Walter Rickell. They also match the un-named stocks on Al Goodwin's personal OP pictured in Wilson / Sutherland.
Walter Rickell January, 1986 Guns magazine, “Custom Colt Officers Model”
"What really makes this a piece of history is that everyone in the match that day (3-21-54) signed signed [the target] —notable shooters like John Hurst and Fuzzy Farrant, from LAPD and premier handgun grip makers;... and Walter Stark and Joe Blackford, who both taught Hurst and Farrant the art of custom handgun stocks and started the whole business of finger grooves."
