Not sure of the date on this 4 screw gun serial # K4636xx.
Could resist it. Been watching the price drop for several months now and had picked up a set of 22 Jet dies in a pawn shop. Gun is in nice shape and wearing nice set of target stocks. Got it for $775 and will probably not do the Harvey Kay Chuck project I had gathered parts for.

Yes, I will post picture when I get home with it.

Here it is. Only odd thing is ejector rod has little bluing and a bit of a grr on knurling. Recoil shield and lock up shows little evidence of high round count. Have another K frame ejector rod for it

Steel,

Great catch thar....

The Jet is one cool cartridge for sure. I like it a lot.

I made myself a swaging die to swage down .224 jacketed
bullets to .222 and having myself a ball with it.

Hope you enjoy yours as much too.

Me & My Jets

Su Amigo,
Dave

I was thinking about doing something similar. I have a bullet sizer and am going to get a .222 reamer and turn a piece of tool steel to fit the press, ream the hole to .222 and polish it, then harden it. Make a pilot for the points. Many years ago I bought several thousand 40 gr. 224 bullets that were on sale because of being discontinued. Sometimes being a pack rat is a good thing.

Some say that the larger diameter .223 bullets actually work better. Don't know though, haven't tried them yet.

I've been shooting 22 jet for 40 years. Congrats on the GREAT buy. That gun around here would bring 1K and up. I have been loading 40 and 45 grain .223 hornet bullets that long. I use 13 gr H4227 with the 40 gr, and 11.5 gr H110 with the 45. The latest bullet I have been shooting is the Barnes 22429, a 40 grain flat base .224. Shoots great with 12 gr H4227. Still working on H110 for this bullet. No adverse problems with case backout, primer flattening, case sticking. I read PO Ackley's chapter on pressure. He said that as soon as the bullet is fully in the bore it is resized and the oomph needed to get it there is minimal. You're only stepping up .001 and .002. If I start having a problem I will post here. Good luck and good shooting.

.
Serial looks to be first year 1961 production, but stocks should be wearing diamonds.

The .223's shoot better than the .222's in mine. Sierra 40gr. 10.5 gr of 2400 is plenty fun.
