What with the resent intrest in the Model 53 .22 Remington Jet these days, Just thought y'all might like a pic or two.

Been hold up here south of the Red here a few days.
No phone, no pool and no pets to speak of.

Although, I'm mosty known for my fondness toward the 44s and 45s, I do crack out the smaller offering from time to time.

One of my ranch pickup guns is a six inch 53 that rides in one of them lit'l zip up cases.
I like the cartridge purty good. More ooph that the LR, less recoil than the 357 bores.

I do sometimes in a pinch, form Jet brass from trimmed .357 cartridge cases.
However, I did picked up a thousand pieces of new Remington brass for the Jet here awhile back, so using that for now.

Bullets in the proper diameter was also addressed.
Lots of .224 40 grain soft points and flat based hollow points on hand.
Just needed a die to swage 'em down...So, jest built myself one.

While I was at it, took a spare 6" and made 'er a handy four inch belt gun.

Looks like that little project worked out pretty well.

Ya done good.

Never tried forming the brass. May have to give that a whirl some day. If I wait long enough, a forming die set will come whizzing along at a fair price and I'll give it a go. ;)

Took me near a year to find a set of good old Lyman 22 jet dies, but worth the weight, now just need to find a set of forming dies to feed the little monster since brass is non existance here in Canada!
I sure bet that 4"er is a little fir breather with a load bark, great thread! Dale Z in Canada!

Bought a 1961 Jet with the extra rimfire cylinder back in about 1974...it was my only .22 handgun for many many years. So much Jet went through the gun the forcing cone was turned into a funnel and there was a loose spot in the barrel. Was lucky enough to find the correct vintage barrel and had a good gunsmith fit it...

One day I hope to luck into another rimfire cylinder and have it bored to .22 Magnum....
