Default model 1905 4th change prewar

Hi everybody. i would like to know i little more about mi revolver, if somebody could help me:
Its a s&w 1905 4th change target model, squire butt, 6" barrel.
About the serial number i suppose its from arround 1922.
the legend in the left side of te barrel is: "smith & wesson"
in the right side of the barrel: "38 s&w special ctg"
only has a little s&w monogram on the frame left side.
it doesnt have any other legends like: "made in USA" or "marca registrada." The serial number in the but and the cylinder is: 391238.
thanks everybody for yours coments.

Welcome to the forum.

You're pretty close with your guess. Your gun is a bit too early for the MADE IN USA stamp which started in mid-1922. Your serial probably shipped in late 1921, although only a history letter could give you a definite answer; the shipping sequence was not always reliably predictable.

If you post a few pictures, you might get some more comments on condition, originality of finish and stocks, and such.

THANK YOU ABSALOM, i add some pics. the shape of the revolver isnt good. It is working properly, but lacks the rear sight, obviusly the grips are not the original, but all the other parts are originals. Im interesting in remodel it with new blue finish and the original grips. I dont want sale it, i prefer kep it, but it would be interesting know if it have some value.

Welcome Valentintin,
At first glace it looked like a 1905 Target model, but I think the adjustable sight was added later.
Still a nice gun. Lots of collectors prefer an original finish over one that has been re-blued. Consider shining that one up and waxing it. You might be surprised how good it would look.

Regards,
Bruce

Late 1921 would be a good shipping date estimate. There is no law against refinishing, but it doesn't make economic sense for a revolver in the condition of this one. Most would clean it up and leave it as-is.
