Default post war Magnum Questions

1. I bought a post war magnum with SN S84929. I think that was early 1952 vintage. Is that close?

2. The patridge front sight has a 45 degree bevel on the shooters side face. This bevel projects down for .1". The bevel looks factory.
I looked a other patridge sights and haven't found one that looks like mine. Did Smith peddle a beveled patridge?

I don't have access to a good camera but here are a couple poor cell pics

I'm going to say that wasn't done by S&W, and would be very easy to do with a file and a cold blue. I'm betting it was some one using the gun with a holster, and didn't like the Patridge sight scraping the inside of his holster.

Thank you Sir!

I initially thought that but there is no edge wear on the cylinder and the barrel has 2 rub marks in 3 and 9 o'clock area that are smaller than the white spot on a strike anywhere match. Kinda like what would happen if you stuck it into a drawer. I'll try and generate some photos in the next couple days.

SN S84929
I list S843xx as a pre-27 shipping in 9/51. This one is probably not too far from that, possibly a little later. I agree about the front sight being modified.
