Bought a couple of sets of stags from Ken Driskill and received them today. One set of magna style for my 3rd model to spare my Ivory stocks the abuse of a range session. Second set for the TL I just got because the plastic stocks it came with were horrible. I decided to go with the service style on this one because it just seemed more appropriate. I know the magna styles weren't around when my 3rd model was produced but I like the way they look and feel.

I'm a big fan of Kens work! I love the shape of his Magna style stocks as they closely resemble them pre war factory style. Here is a set I recently purchased and had him install a set of original pre war .500" medallions from my stash.

What type of antler did he use. The lighter colored set look like they may be elk? Regardless, both sets are quite nice looking. Especially like the TL with the stags.

Both of those look very nice!

The Magna size on the 3rd model are actually Elk antler, Elk stag is an oxymoron, no such thing.

I much prefer the genuine Sambar stags on the TL.

You'd be wrong, as the stocks on the TL are actually his "antiqued" elk stocks. I guess he Fooled ya.

Both sets are made from Elk the ones on the TL are antiqued as stated but Hondo is correct a male Elk is called a Bull not a Stag but both have antlers.

Nice stocks

Very nice looking elk stocks. I have some of Patrick's, but haven't had Ken make me a set yet. I especially like "antiqued" stocks on the older revolvers- gives them the period look. I've done some similar antiquing with stag knife handles, particularly damascus bowies. A little soak in some Rit yellow and/or orange dye until you get the color you're looking for, and voila!
