44 Hand Ejector 3rd Model
Picked up a 44 HE 3rd model at a gun show yesterday. S/N 295xx. Nickel with 4” barrel and MOP grips. I’m assuming it is a W&K gun. My question is there any adder for nickel and a first year gun?

Cool. I have one of these, with factory wood grips. Shot it recently with 5 grains of Bullseye pushing a 240 grain swaged SWC.

Finish looks good, have you checked for any return to the factory stamps? The four inch in nickel I think is the least common of the 3rd Models except for the target versions of course. Looks like a very nice find.

No rework stamps and it has the “N” stamp on the grip frame.

Assuming both sides looks as good as what we can see in the photo, I'd say that one is about as nice as you could ever expect to find. Not sure we've ever established how many four inch 3rd models were made, nor how many of those (4") left the factory with a nickel finish, but the consensus is that they're fairly uncommon. I've got one, but not nearly as nice as that one, so I know they couldn't be considered 'rare'.

Maybe it’s just my iPad, but when I click on those thumbnails I just get another thumbnail, so I reposted from Tapatalk - so I could see them better!

I recently saw some Steer Head MOP grips; for sale at 1,200.00.
I don’t know what they usually go for.

The first delivery of 1926 .44 Specials to Wolf & Klar occurred on January 27th, 1927. It was 75 nickel plated revolvers with 5" barrels.
Do you have any pictures of the other side?

Not your iPad since I get them on my Windows desktop. For some reason, when you click on an icon on this site, it sometimes enlarges the picture in the same tab but opens a new tab with just the icon. If you close that top tab, you can see the enlarged picture beneath it.
