Finally found a black presentation case with age and wear appropriate for my well worn first year 5-screw .44 Magnum. Now I need a set of "properly aged" tools to match. But first, what am I looking for? Screwdriver, cleaning rod, brush, and mop, correct? The completed set will be a hoot to show off at the December Crossroads show, next to all the pricey and pristine safe queens.

Gila Bender, it may be well-worn but it sure looks good. BTW, that's a 6.5" barrel, no? I think I am finally getting to where I can tell it from a 6".

The accessories posted in the photo by Jeff (above) are correct with the addition of a brush attached to the cleaning rod. The brush has a wound brass core and threaded brass base and copper bristles. The sight screwdriver has a knurled, aluminum handle.

Thank you Bill and 22highpower. I found a photo of Bill's cased .44 Magnum, S147213, on page 921 of Mullin. I wish my .44 Magnum, S147233, had such provenance but, alas, it was shipped to a giant hardware distributor in Amarillo TX.

Tom, I'm curious about that hardware distributor in Amarillo. My 4 inch went to the Morrow - Thomas Hardware Company in Amarillo in November of 1956 along with three others in the same configuration. Any chance yours went to the same company? I found a couple pictures from the '60s of the building/street but not much else. Seems the Amarillo folks were "early adopters" when the 44 Magnum arrived.

Jeff, S147233 shipped July 5, 1956 to Amarillo Hardware Co. There were five (5) of this model in the shipment, billed at the wholesale price of $83 each. The presentation case arrived on 11/7 and...it's actually blue! Matches the condition of the revolver. Tools are mid-70's.
