Triple Lock with a Wonder Sight

I had posted in the Smithing section about a Triple Lock that I have with a too-tall front sight - it shoots about 8 inches low. http://smith-wessonforum.com/s-w-smithing/627269-how-lower-nickel-front-sight.html

One of the suggestions was to try a Wonder Sight and since it also shoots substantially left (3 inches), I decided to give it a try. Here are the results.

Since I knew it shot low and left, my aim point was the upper right diamond using the fixed sights as is. The bottom group is the result. After installing and adjusting the Wonder Sight I shot the top group, still using the upper right diamond as the same aim point. Much better!

The main problem with my Wonder Sight is that at its lowest position, the POI is still several inches too high. I really need a little higher front sight. But at least I have a windage adjustment.

I suspect they reused the front sight after they cut the barrel, soldered or welded it back on and refinished the gun in nickel. I suspect it is an appropriate sight for a 6.5" barrel. Looks like my .455 Triple Lock.

Wow. I like that sight. What a very simple solution to your problem. I think it adds to the coolness of that revolver also. Well done. Are those sights still manufactured, or did you scrounge one up from some dark corner?

Still being made: http://www.hollowpointmold.com/wondersight/ I bought the one I put on my gun via eBay - search for "wondersight". I believe it's the same guy in Philomath, OR.

Note that this sight doesn't do you much good if your gun is shooting high. When the body of the blade contacts the frame at its lowest, it is still well above the original frame notch rear sight. In any event, no add-on sight can go any lower than the frame notch. In my case though it worked out great!

Great Looking Triplelock!!

Here's another wondersight on a 38/44
4 inch barrel also.. Flexibility and a cool
nostalgia factor..
I just have to say Extremely jealous of the
OP's terrific looking TP 4 inch early S&W!!

The original ones had several small differences from the modern ones pictured above.
I'm away or I would take and post pics. I have one original first run Wondersight and a few modern ones.
The most noticeable difference that comes to mind is the knurling on the windage thumbscrew.
The original is simply straight line grooves perpendicular to the screw head.
The modern ones (as pictured above) are true cross-hatch knurling.
