I posted about this gun in a thread asking about "proving" to a dealer that a gun qualifies as "C&R". The seller accepted the dating info I provided and then shipped promptly. It arrived yesterday (a day early).

This 4" M&P is only about 100 numbers into the 4th Change SN range, so it should have a 1915 birth date. There is very little actual wear on the revolver, but unfortunately the left side has quite a bit of "blotchy" patterns on it...likely a storage issue. The right side is much better. The cylinder lockup is TIGHT. I believe this centenarian has been fired very little in its life. the recoil shield shows hardly any wear. And the STOCKS! They're beautiful, and matching, too!. Very happy to have this one (and a fair price too I'd say, at $345 plus tax and shipping).

Shoot it and enjoy it. In today's crazy prices world I'd be very happy. K frame .38 M & P's are my favorite S&W.

Tried and true classic. Fine grips.
Never seen pencil ser.# on the inside of the grip look so fresh ... any chance that was refreshed somewhere along the line?

Congratulations on your find.

N frames seem to get the attention these days, but the K frames were the guns the vast majority of users bought "back in the day ". Pre WW1 guns are awesome imo with regard to the fit and finish lavished at the factory.

You've got a great 4"er there. Thanks for sharing it.
