Default Torsion spring??

Picked up a s&w .38 special (not sure of the exact model as the SN (377xxx) does not have a prefix except for a B in one place). It wasn’t functioning correctly. When I opened it up there were no loose or broken pieces. However, the hand on trigger doesn’t have any tension on on it. Looking online I see hands with two pins that have torsion springs, but mine has one.

Welcome to the Forum.

Some of the early hand ejectors had a spring loaded pin in the side plate that pressed against the hand.

Look inside the slot in the trigger. Look for a spring lever inside.

If the "B" is in front of the serial number that is stamped under the barrel, that indicates the revolver shipped with a blued finish.
