Genuine mother of pearl grips for a prewar 2" M&P
Hi S&Wforum's friends
I need your help, i'm actually 1000 kilometers far from my home in Rome and from my S&W collection. I'm following the renoval work on my Sicily house. I've found on auction a beautiful genuine pair of pre war mother of pearl grips. I'd like to fit them on my 2" RB pre war M&P but i believe that the grips on auction are for a 32 hand ejector not for my revolver. Can anyone takes and gives me a right measure of a RB K frame grips, please?
I'll be grateful for the help, so i'll be able to partecipate at the auction not in a crazy blindy run without any information. Thanks in advance.
Attached the pics of my 2" M&P and the grips on auction
Ciao
Marcello

And if they do not fit, find a gun that the do fit. BTW that is a beautiful M&P.

Beyond that the 32 HE is an I frame while your M&P is a K so without holding them in your hands, or not having a knowledgeable auctioneer it's a tough call. I still say buy them and hope for the best. When will you see another set?

Where is the bidding on those nice mother of pearl stocks at? They have the Smith & Wesson medallions, so likely factory.
If reasonable, I would buy these and when you get them, see if they fit your revolver. If they don’t—well, you still have a very nice set of stocks in the end.

Even if they fit, I would certainly not replace those next to new factory stocks. The gun is in much too nice original condition to swap those stocks with a set of likely pre-1920 pearls.

Here are a few images of my 1920-21 M&P 38special. Hope these help.
I’m no expert and don’t have an I frame but that’s my guess they’re for an I frame not K frame.

This gun shipped with standard checkered wood stocks, but sometime in it's life, it received the pearls, along with some focused "scratching" and King's Super Police sight treatment.
Good luck on the auction!!! And post some after photos when you get the pearls home and on the gun.

Here is a picture, like yours, of Pearl K-frame stocks. They are quite a bit larger than the one's shown in your picture.

Hi Mike, thanks a lot, the pic of your grips are conferming my thought: the grips on auction are for I frame. Thanks for sharing. P. S.
If you want sell the grips ring to my door.

Indeed, the grips on auction are for an I-frame. No doubt about it.
