I have wanted a .44 Special 2nd model hand ejector for a while and finally got my hands on one. Very tight gun. Perfect bore. I already sent for the S&W letter. I shot it Saturday. Fun gun.

Great find! Don't see many nickel seconds.
Here's my favorite .44 - A 4" third Model.

Back when I was looking for a .44 Special, ALL I could find were 6 1/2" nickel 2nd models. The majority were probably re-nickeled. Of course, Alabama is very humid, which probably contributed to the abundance of nickel revolvers.

Mine is kind of a beater, but got lucky on the letter. Went to a Deputy Sheriff in Potter County, Texas.
Shipped June 1926. The grips are correct for that era.

The autograph was obtained by my father, also David Reynolds.
He visited Elmer in May of 1977 and of course took all of his Keith books to be signed.

The neutral background makes the gun darker.

The blue background makes the gun look brown.

Congratulations, that's a very nice 2nd Model! The only .44 Spl. I currently own is my 4" nickel .44 HE 3rd Model (Wolf & Klar Model of 1926, ca. 1927) that was modified and re-nickeled by some previous owner. The stocks are some Grashorn's that I "aged". It's probably not worth too much, but I like it and it's fun to shoot. Enjoy!

Here is my lone 44 Spl. It started life as a model 1917 shipped to the US Army and at some point was converted to 44 Spl. Even though all of the numbers match, are in the correct location and are the period correct size/font neither Mr. Jinks or the S&WHS could verify that this conversion was done at the factory. Maybe a lunchbox job. Shoots much better than it looks.

Congratulations on your acquisition. That’s a beautiful specimen. I am relatively new to the .44 spl scene, but have become enamored with the venerable cartridge. It all started when I found my 3” 24-3 for cheap. I recently added back to back 696 no dashes. I am now looking for a 4” 24 or 624.

Don't have an older one, so I'm with LHD's 24-3s.
Never saw one for sale around here. My first carry gun was a Bulldog in .44 Special.

Those are some fine guns there. Thanks for sharing.

Thought I'd show mine. Wonder what its' worth today?

Think mine are always worth more to me than what someone would pay for them, except a few times I needed money for bills and such.
I wouldn't know what to offer you, and you most likely wouldn't want to sell it. Those are the kind I like.

The ones I did not want to sell? They have great caretakers. Easier to sell if it fits someone's style.
