Default Been awhile since I found a good one. T-lock

I’ve been on a bit of a dry spell since I moved to North Carolina. There are gun and pawn shops on every corner down here, but very few collectible S&Ws, lots of plastic if you know what I mean. Last Friday a gun shop about an hour and a half south of me posted this gun on Facebook, basically a show and tell. When I called the shop and found out it was for sale I knew I was going on a little road trip.

So I sent pictures to my friend “Jose” in Texas, just wanted an experts opinions, and it turned out I’m glad I did. Come to find out S&W did not mark Nickle guns with an N because that was the standard finish at that time, but Blued T-lock guns did have the B stamp. This information turned out to be very helpful.

With all that being said: Smith&Wesson 1st Hand Ejector .44 Special, other wise known as a Triple Lock. All parts serial number correct, 5” barrel, Nickle finish. Now for the unfortunate news, this gun has been re-nickled at some point, but it did leave the factory with a nickle finish. Enjoy y’all!

I think this TL more than makes up for the long dry spell. Those jigged stags just look so right on a nickeled gun. Congrats on a good find, hope you got it for a good price.

Five inch nickel TLs are up there in scarcity, I believe. Great find and well worth the 90 minute drive. Did the Jigged bone grips come with the gun? My 5" TL came to me with jigged bone which appeared to have been on the gun for a long time. Congrats.

Yes the stocks came with it and they look to have been on for sometime.

Perfect bbl size for a cool old N frame.

Those grips are really nice and seem meant for that type gun.

I have a set put aside myself in case the right gun comes along.

Nice catch, George. In my mind, almost certainly a lawman's gun and they generally do come with a refinsh. Aside from the nickled 3rd lock, a pretty nice job. Not overbuffed like so many are. Those thumbprint jigged bone really set it off.

That's a good one, George. My Triple Lock is not quite that nice. It shipped to New Orleans and then spent most it's life in Corpus Christi.
Letters as Nickel and was treated to Chrome plating and carved Ivory grips at some point, then carried a bunch.
