This M&P target was a Gunbroker buy. As you can see from the letter it was shipped to Hibbard Spencer Bartlett & Co on March 29, 1920. A star on the butt next to the serial number indicates factory return. A lettter from the original owner states it was returned to the factory in the late 50's or early 60's for a refinish. The grips that came with the gun were magnas from the 50's. I replaced them with the gold medallions you see here that I purchased from E-bay. Best part about this revolver, I paid 277.17 shipped. Could not believe my luck.

Well - you still have the wrong grips on it. The letter says non-monogrammed
stocks - what you have now are the gold-monogrammed grips. The ones Roy
is referring to are the convex non-medallions. Like this :

Beautiful revolver & pics! Regardless of the letter, the gun looks better with the gold medallion grips IMHO. Bolt on what you like and use it,,it's yours now!

The golds were the the only grips I have close to this revolvers age. I'm always looking for the correct grips for my revolvers. Anyone have a pair that is correct and in very good condition for sale, please let know.

geoff40. I'll take her to the range this weekend.Hope she shoots as good as she looks.

Thanks to all the members who have offered the correct grips. I have purchased a nice pair from a forum member. I'll post new pics with the correct grips when they arrive.

You ought to be ashamed of yourself stealing like that. Although I must admit I would've committed the same sin. For your penance say three Hail Mary's and go in peace.

DWFAN
I think the reason it was so cheap is the bidding on Gunbroker ended late on a Sunday night. Most of the bidders were in bed at the end of the auction. Sometimes you just get lucky.
No Hail Mary's for me, I'm an American Druid ( Reformed). No affiliation with those silly European Druids dancing around Stonehenge

You and QC can get together and dance naked under the full moon. That would be a sight.

I know the feeling of getting a "late night" bid into Gunbroker. I got up at 3 AM to check on a bid I had an a 22/32 Target. Good thing I did, as someone had outbid me sometime after midnight. I got in at $5 higher with just minutes to spare.
