Hi,
Been out of the market a while and haven't been on the forum alot in the past months, so I could use a little help.
Whats a fair price for a 1st model with approximately 60-70% original bluing, plus a few nicks in the metal, but not rust or pitting. Has excellent original number matching grips and what appears to be a Call silver bead front sight. Pretty nice case hardening remains on the hammer(standard) and trigger.Nice tight action. All number matching. Its priced at $475.00 and thats probably firm.
Thanks, Jim

Thats probably cheap. The prices have been going up over the last few years. Lee Jarrett had one in good but not collector grade with a box for $2395 over the weekend. Use that as a starting point. I'd pay the asking price of $475 without much quibbling.

+1

I just picked up an 85% - 90% one over the week-end for $600 and felt like I got a fair deal. I have been looking for one for a while and finally found one that I could see in person, handle and examine all of the fine points and flaws.

I'd be a buyer at $475... But I also have a "collection" where the theme of the "collection" is "Shooter Grade Smiths - Used but Not Abused"

BTW - did any of you happen to see the recent Mike Venturino article on Collecting vs Accumulating in a recent Guns Magazine? I liked his idea of "themes" as a basis for determining a "collection" vs an "accumulation."
