19-3 2.5 inch or mosin-Nagant sniper rifle ?
A few weeks ago I bought a model 10-5 with a 2 inch barrel at Shooter's, in the same batch a 2.5 19 came in. I was called but another clerk didn't know and sold it to another regular customer.
The 10-5 is nickel, and the 19 is blue, yesterday i went to Shooter's to order a Mosin-Nagant rifle from SOGS and before i saw ken the guy who bought the 19 who isee everyday asked if I would be interested in buying it from him, he bought it and decided he wanted a 44 instead. So I bought it for $400.00 this morning. No box or papers but no blemishes or scratches either and it also fits in my new lobo leather holster So I decided not to order the nagant.

Good move in my opinion. Nagants are fun but ugly and not very cheap to shoot and certainly not as nice to own as a nice Smith & Wesson revolver! Plus, if you hold out, you will find one for around $300.00 or so in good condition as soon as the novelty wears off.

Great score on the model 19.Those are the coolest snubbies ever made. I sure wish we could get them at that price out here in CA.

I think so too,I will get a date of Mfg. tonight when I get home. I think Dave (the guy I bought it from) wants a 44 and his better half told him to get rid of something. So I jumped on it quickly.

Get the 19! They literally give Mosins away, you can get a pretty nice one on gunbroker for $100. Seriously--I'm not kidding.
The Mosin is a great gun but it's cheap as dirt because the Soviets made millions of them.

I would have preferred the snubbie Model 19 to the Nagant. Either one with full power loads will not be pleasant to shoot.

I wouldn't trade a good M-19 for a ship loaded with Mosin Nagants and the ammo included! You did great.

I have a Moisin Nagant, but I can do a lot more shooting with any handgun than a rifle. I belong to a range, but it's just more difficult to arrange the time. Plus, handguns are more fun. I think you made the right choice.

I think you made the right decision. If you were talking about an original PU or PEM sniper, then that would be a different story. Those repro snipers are very hit or miss, quality wise, and at the end of the day, it is still a reproduction. Also, from what I heard, they can be a headache to zero if the scope wasn't mounted properly. The 19-3, especially with the short barrel is a hot commodity and you probably will never lose money with it, especially with that $400.00 purchase price. That being said, I am still kicking myself for not coming up with the $ to buy a legit, bring back papered Hungarian Nagant PU sniper when I had the opportunity.

You made the right choice if the Nagant was the very one that Joe Stalin had made as a presentation piece for Adolf to mark their mutual non-aggression pact.
Congratulations.

There is no doubt I got lucky, I usually go to Shooter's 3 days a week and see Dave. I was on my way to the counter when he stopped me to offer the 19. It took a nano second to say I will meet you tomorrow to pay the money. So Yesterday morning I met him in the parking lot and we finished the deal. I bought a nice model 64 from him last year from an eastern PD. He is a retired State Trooper, and he and I and another guy got into an hour long discussion on .45 ACp/Auto-rim and .45 Colt S&W handguns. So he is always a pleasure to talk to.
From the serial number mine was made in 1974 the range starts at 6K and 17 and mine is 20 or so numbers higher. As soon as I find my kids camera I will post photos.
