Please help me, I am trying to figure out what are the correct Target grips for my revolver. Some I have seen have a moon shaped cut out on the top of one of the grips, other do not.

The type on the left (the "football" cutout) are likely correct. The "speedloader" cutout version are a later version, and it is possible a later 14-3 would have had these, but most came from the factory with Magna service stocks.

Just bought a beautiful 14-3 at a local gun show for $300 sn 1K282XX . After shooting it I found out the grips are too small for my hand. I want to install target grips but want to make sure I get the correct factory target grips for the gun. What is a Magna grip you mentioned? I am wondering what my revolver is worth and when it was made. Gun is 98% with gorgeous bore.

$300 is a good price. You could sell it for at least $100 more in most places, and $150-200 more in some.

With that serial number, the revolver was probably shipped in 1971.

Magnas are the standard S&W stocks; they are not target stocks. For pictures of magnas, see post #3 in this thread and look at the photos about halfway through the group:

Any K-frame target stocks would fit your gun. I agree that at the time your gun was made, target stocks with the "football" cutout would have been the standard. Note that in 1968 the factory did away with the diamond shape around the screw escutcheons. If your gun had shipped with target stocks, they would NOT have had the diamonds.
