DOB for my issued 10-5
Ser # D 140285
I was issued this 10-5 January 22 1975 when I joined the Champaign Illinois PD. I was allowed to purchuse it in 2003 when I retired. I intend to get a letter on it but would like to get an idea on when it was made.
What are the correct grips for this year of manufacture?
Thanks in advance.

The 10-4, 10-5, and 10-6 were all made in 1962. The 10-5 was the pencil barrel and the 10-6 the heavy barrel. These changed in 77. The D series started in 67 and yours was made in 68. I am originally from Tuscola and spent time in Champaign during your tenure.

Thanks for the information. I will get a letter on it to see who it was shipped to.
Anyone have a photo of the correct Magnas?
Thanks again.

I'll guess and suggest your gun would have shipped with PC magnas (rounded at the bottom). Born in '69, there's a chance yours may have come with diamond magnas, also. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong.
Here are the original (non-diamond) PC magnas on my early '70s 10-5.

Thanks -db-
Nice model 10.
I think mine came with grips like these but I don't remember if they had diamonds or not. I needed larger grips and changed them out but I don't think I kept the old grips.
