Default I've got a fever and the only cure is more S&W's !

I traded for 2 (new to me) Smiths today and I need y'alls help in dating and valuing these to see if I did ok or not. I feel good about them but you guys are the pros' and I'm just the Grasshopper. Heap upon me your knowledge oh great ones. The first one is a model 36 no dash Chief's Special with a 3 inch barrel. My understanding is that the longer barrel Chief's are not very common. Slight turn ring so I'm gonna assume that it's been shot more than once. No major blems, few dings on right side of barrel but nothing too noticeable. Not sure if it's in the original box or not but it does come with all paperwork and tools.
Serial # is AJ99XX. Thanks in advance for the info.

Recheck that serial number. I'll bet it's a numeral before the "J" and not an "A", in which case the gun dates from 1971.

Although 2" Model 36's predominate, the 3" ones aren't by any means rare.

Good looking gun. If you are happy with what you paid for it and plan to shoot it, don't worry about value . . . be happy with a great new toy!
