4in J Frame, What Holster for Model 63.
As I've noted in another thread I've recently found a model 63, 4in. Can someone suggest a proper holster for this gun. I'd prefer something like a simple leather thumb-break but I've never seen a 4in J Frame holster.
Your suggestions are much appreciated.

I'm sure Ray at Lobo Gunleather Lobo Gun Leather - Home could fix you up. He's made several jframe holsters for me.

I found this apparently unused Bianchi #5BHL for $10 in the 'pre-owned' grab box at my local gun shop.

Nice holster, just what I'd like but what fits a 4in K/L frame probably won't fit a 4in J frame which I think is a odd duck in the holster world.

I don't have a picture, but I carry my 4" 63 in a Safariland holster I bought from someone here on the forum. It is brown basketweave, and has what I believe S-land used to call a "sight-track."
My brother has a 4" 63 and is left handed. I had Ray at Lobogunleather make him this carved threepersons holster for Christmas last year. It is a beauty.

I have a Bianchi #10L in their Outdoorsman series which is now extinct. Excellent holsters if you can find one.

The Bianchi 5BHL model comes in a kit gun size. A picture was shown several comments above. Look on eBay, two NIB just sold one for $12.00 and one for $28.28

Holster for 4" J
Recently a member posted the S&W BLazer holster chart, which shows Blazer 21-64 as fitting the 4" J frame. You might keep that ref for your looking.
Good luck,
Dyson

Bianchi has made the 5BHL for J frames at least since the 70s --- I like mine.

Nothing wrong with a Bianchi or the other big named rigs, but I'm partial to Lobo holsters these days. Custom product priced lower than many mass produced holsters. Check out his website. Great man to do business with and guaranteed American made! He'll make it just how you want it and has the gamut of models covered. Your 63 would love residing in one!

I've got a Hunter 1100-17, which holds service-sighted J- and
I-frames, plus 38 H&R Hammerless, and S&W 38 Perfected. A Model 317
j-frame with adjustable sights will not clear the rear sight. If I was
looking for one, I'd be asking Lobo or BellCharterOak , (from here on the
Forum) to make me one. They've each made me a holster, and they
flat-out work! Prices are good, too. TACC1

If you're wanting a thumb break, I have a Hunter 1100-17 for 4" RH that I might sell. I got it along with a 3" 317 I purchased. It looks good and works but I don't care for any holster with exposed trigger.
If I were to buy a new holster for the J-frame, I'd look at these depending on the rear sights.
Silver Dollar Pancake
I have a sour dough for N-frames and they hold the gun secure without a strap. Also can wear crossdraw or IWB w/ optional straps as well as a shoulder type rig and even a removable flap. Thumb break available except for hammerless J models.
Quality is excellent and price is affordable.
I will say that a 1917 with fixed service sights fits great but the blade on an adjustable rear sight 625 can cause some undue wear, although not much.
I imagine the same might happen with a bladed rear sight on a J so your 63 may not be happy in one.
