S & W Mercox DPG K 22
im new here. i'm trying to settle a famly members estate & came accross an older K 22 & said WOW. its a S & W Mercox Dart Projectile Gun. its condition is nib, showing no wear whatsoever. i have a S & W four pg. catalouge stating: animal control, police & military use, a variety of .530 dart projectile types, .22 ramset blanks, 12" bbl, 49 oz, etc. im est the age to be around 1980 or so. has anyone ever herd of this guy before? my local gun shop offered me $200. i couldn't run out the door faster. lol. im just an average joe trying to do the right thing. any ideas on where to start? thanks, steveo...

Nahas and Supica's Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson, 3d. Edition, says that only about 25 of this model were made, maybe 17 or 18 shipped.
It is a rare gun, and probably quite valuable, but the book does not list a gun.
At any rate, it's very rare and I strongly suggest you research it thoroughly before you do anything with it.

some real good pics of that thing are in order, along with all the accessories and darts...I doubt many folks would have seen one of those things, much less NIB

Would love to see some pics as well. Here is one that was for sale, will give you some idea of what it is worth. Auction was in March of 2011.

You've come to the right place, not only to obtain information about your gun, but also to sell it if you decide to do so. Be patient, it's just a matter of time before knowledgable folks start checking in. I wouldn't even consider taking it to a pawn shop or local gun store.

Jeez- based on that auction result that LGS was really doing you a favor with the $200 offer. I dont think I would visit that store again for anything. That is one you might consider sending to RIA or one of the other high end auction houses.
