Patridge sights on 4" guns
how common are they? and would a nickel 19 with one be rare? the local shop has one in the counter. not only am a sucker for nickel but i like the look of the sight. the finish is hazed from use and the sideplate has been off. its buttery smooth though. what a good offer to throw at em.

Not very common.
Early 19's had a pinned front sight and base and then for awhile the front sight was pinned to the base so it could have been ordered with it or easily replaced later.
Did you happen to catch the dash number and/or the serial number range?

i believe it was a -3. i already have a nickel 19 so wasn't really looking to buy, just caught my attention. now it really has my attention and i'll go back to look. It was pinned at the barrel and the front sight base and looked kinda cool. based on condition, its not more than a shooter though.

I know the 4" 17-5 had a Baughman but the Patridge front site appeared on the 4" 17-6 and continued on the 4" 617 series K22's.

I like it as well. When did you have it done and about what did it cost?

Most will be owner inspired modifications..............
I had the fs on my 624 changed out to a Patridge with a gold bead. Sure helps these old eyes out.

Nickel guns by themselves are rare, but a factory Patridge, yup that would be rare if the gun shipped that way.
Dunno what it'd do to the value, in fact I'm not sure it'd carry a premium at all, but factory nickel with a partridge yup that's rare.
