Default Model 10 configurations...

So I'm flipping through the big book o' S&W's and on page 174 there is yet another Model 10 that I haven't seen before... It would appear to be a 2.5" barrel version. So once again I have that slap in the face feeling of yet another S&W I have never seen before.

As a side note, this section also covers one of the previous "haven't seen before" models... The 10-6 chambered in .357 magnum... That made for interesting reading.

Just two more reasons to buy the "Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson" like every good S&W owner should have on their bookshelf...

Yes, like that one. Until I read the book, I had thought that some crazy gun smith must have been swapping parts or milling cylinders. It's amazing all the little facts that are in the big book. But what's worse is all the things that even the book doesn't have room to cover. But there are still things in the book that I haven't even seen here.

Any one have one of those 2.5" barrel Model 10's??? Or whatever length the barrel is???

But is it the two inch barrel that is at least a little common? (I don't want to sound like I'm poking at your gun)

Or is it that longer barrel that looks like it's about 2.5"???

My favorite configuration of the M&P's is the 4" tapered barrel and round butt configuration with the
"Speed" or "Fishhook" hammer...

If you have the book, open it to that page and you will see the difference. You have the short extractor rod while the other one has a visible longer rod. But it still isn't a full length rod.

Crazy. Yet another one I didn't know was out there. Big thanks for the pic and the letter. I wonder how thick the SCSW would be if it had some of the info like your letter has for each different configuration of each different model?!?!

I think the SWSC is patterned after the Bible. All the info it contains can be counted on as absolute truth. But even the Bible doesn't record every event that took place or words that were spoken by Jesus and his disciples.
So it is with the SWSC. All true but there are always things that can be learned outside of those pages.
