Monroe Hardware Co., New Orleans, LA. & Cheshire & Perez Co. Monrovia, CA
I recently recieved two letters for some mid 70's S&W's that were shipped to the two companies above.
Does anyone have any info. on these companies? Were they wholesalers that could have sold to a retail gun shop?
Thanks.

Cheshire & Perez was a large S & W distributor/warranty repair station and gunsmithing operation, so it definitely sold to gun shops. Don't recall when they went out of business.

C&P was at 136 E. Walnut in Monrovia, CA. As a young guy working in a local gun store back in the mid 1970's, going to C&P to pick up guns was heaven on earth. You wouldn't believe the stacks and stacks of S&W boxes that were stacked up on their shelves in the back room. C&P were Chuck Cheshire and Henry Perez. They lasted into the 1990's, IIRC.

I worked at Cheshire & Perez in the '79-’80 timeframe. C&P was a S&W warranty repair center and primarily a law enforcement distributor. They bid on a lot of local LE contracts. We sold a bunch of Model 66’s to SoCal cops while I was there.

There was a Monroe Hardware in Monroe, LA, that closed in the mid-70's.
I don't know about one in N.O. Maybe Caj has heard of it.

A friend of mine grew up in Monroe, which he calls "Ignorant Thicket". I'll try to remember to ask him if he remembers the place. He's owned guns since he was a kid, so he'd probably remember if they sold guns.
