Default What's your most accurate Revolver?

C'mon, every one's got their favorite shooter. is it that model 15 with adjustable sights? or maybe a model 19 you use for single action revolver? Maybe a model 27 that just shoots double action revolver like no other. Which one hits that mark more often than not ? Or is it another model? 52?, 17? 41?

Newer than 1980 (1993) but my 686-3 6" barrel is more accurate than me!

Also my sons Model 19-3 4" barrel is also crazy accurate!

Both have adjustable sights.

(Actually the 19 was mine and I swapped my son for the 686)

Default It's the k22

Hands down, by a wide margin, all day long, any way you slice it, no questions ask, it's the k22. When it misses, I know who's to blame.

My 25-2 is very accurate but my 78' vintage 25-5 is very accurate too! All of my N frames are very good shooters. I also have a 1895 Nagant revolver that I modified to single action that is surprisingly accurate too!

Same... So far it's my 25-2 6.5" barrel, just amazingly accurate even with PMC bronze ammo. I can't imagine hand-loading target loads for that gun.

By far my most accurate revolver is my Model 14, from a rest it will put them in one ragged hole all day long. It makes me look good at the range.

The one that makes me look good is a 19-3 6" TTT that I found at a gun show about 3 years ago. A bit of holster wear that came in a S&W brand holster. It has the smoothest action of all my Smiths. I also wanted the other gun for sale, that my buddy bought for $400, a mint 57 4". I still want it.

Most accurate revolver of ANY make- though modified, a Ruger single six that was re barreled by Gary Reeder in Flagstaff, AZ ( because prior to that it would deliver saucer sized group at 15 yards with .22 LR ammo, and keyholed .22 magnums ) Keeps up well with my M41 now. Best S&W DA revolver is an OLD PPC job purportedly done by Royce Weddle on a model 14 - purely a joy to shoot, especially during hours and days at the range that are "popular" with the armed know-it-alls who bought something, so now their friends believe they know something! LOVE to hear these jeering the "grand pa gun" - until the first six round single ragged hole group is put into a target , proving to be a feat they can not match. Of course , I do a repeat with my old single stack IPSC 1911 in .45ACP , just to give the neophytes a demo of what they SHOULD be able to do with their new polymer whiz-bang, but cannot , as they shall not invest the time and discipline to do so. ( but then, this was supposed to be about revolvers! ) Two years ago I was fortunate to find a holster worn M15 dated to around 1974 or 75. Best action on a non modified S&W that I own. Keeps up with the PPC job !

Gotta be my 28-2 4". It was my fathers service revolver when he was a Milwaukee LEO that I inherited. Consistently more accurate with it than any other revolver, even my brothers 27-2 6".

My 66 no dash is quite accurate, however I think that my new (to me) 629 will be even better. I've only put a few rounds through it, but it showed serious potential. I'll probably find out this weekend as my .44 bullets are arriving, and I can actually load some rounds for it!

This is a tough question considering but I would probably pick my M17-4 with 8-3/8" bbl. It shoots better than I can see anymore.

This one's pretty good, but it's beat by these:

If the .38 wasn't double action only, it might be the best overall. But the .44 is the best easily at 100 yards.

Has to be my 8 3/8" Model 14-3, it'll shoot ragged one hole groups as long as I do my part. My Model 14-4 8 3/8 is a close second.

3 inch Model 64-4, first time I shot it I loaded, let the barrel go to its happy place and fired dbl action, speed reloaded and did it again. All 12 in the face from 21 feet. Never had any hand gun point so naturaly. It's a keeper !

Small bore .22 M17 8 3/8, medium bore Dan Wesson . 357 15-2 8", big bore Dan Wesson .44 mag 10", the DW's have a huge advantage with the barrel being tensioned on each end. You can actually move the groups by tweeking the barrel tension nut on the end of the shroud.

I have two Thunder Ranch model 21-4's in 44 special and another model 21-4 I carry as my CCW. All three are very accurate and fire to point of aim with the 200 grain Silvertips. I just picked up some Corbon 44 special 200 grain DPX (Barnes Bullet). Hope to try some out Sunday afternoon.

My absolutely most favorite most used most accurate and most positively adored revolver is my 18-3. In front of witnesses I have fired six shot groups off-hand at 65 yards that measured 5 inches across. In 2004 I used it in a standard draw and fire type match fired on B-27 targets. I did not own a holster, so they let me use a Beretta 92 holster holding the revolver in w/ my left index finger. I shot a 242/42X. Later I put a little dab of white nail polish on the front sight and found that that just about eliminated fouling up in the 9 ring. I have owned this revolver since about 2002. I have had a lot of revolvers over the years that were very nicely accurate. But this one takes the cake!

Gosh, that's hard to determine. In center fire, the Pre27 is great, but the 686 is it's match. My 17-4 is a tack driver, but with the right ammo the newer 617-6 is it's equal. A couple K38's are about the match for the 27 & 686, and the 15's are no slouch. In fact AI don't think I have a S&W revolver that doesn't meet my expectations.

my 17, or maybe my 586. the 17 is easier and cheaper to shoot so i shoot it more... that being said a 586 in 4" is a damn accurate shooter.

Another toss up. K-22 and 25-5 45 LC (8 3/8"). Although my 3" 64 always supprises me by how accurate it is.

Most accurate is my Model 65-6 Ladysmith using 158gn FMJ .38 Specials. Close second is my Model 14-2 4" using same loads.

Default Accurate handguns

Revolvers....my model 18 and a 617......with my model 18 I shot a 50 yd steel small bore ISHMA pig turn edge wise to me....so that I had just the 3/8" thickness to shoot at.....I hit it on the snout and turned it on the stand....so that I was looking at the butt of the pig.....I looked at my shooting partner....thumb cocked the 18...my partner said " no way"...."BANG!!".....Tink....
Auto's: my model 52 and custom built Colt series 70 "bullseye "gun.....both of these guns will simply punch out the "X" ring on a 25 yd slow fire bullseye target.

My 17-no dash definitely head and shoulders above the rest. Close second is my 66-1 4 inch which was my duty gun for many years and has consumed untold amounts of ammo without missing a tick.

5 screw Combat Masterpiece. My wife thought I was a great shot until she shot it herself. Now she thinks SHE is a great shot.

1950's vintage five inch k38. Something magic about this one that just shoots little tiny groups...

Sorry S&W fans but this Ruger Super Redhawk in 44 mag. is scary accurate. You better have a rest handy though.

I have a 6.5-inch 29 from that era that I would say is possibly my most accurate. I bought it used; can't even recall when or where. I too shot a few IHMSA matches with it. It is nothing to look at but if you can see well enough and you can hold and squeeze, I am sure it is as good as my best K22.
