I have a S&W model 14-2 made sometime around the late 60's. At that time there was no +P ammo but I see the model 14 made much more recently is rated +P. Does anyone know if there is any reason the older model should not be able to shoot +P ammo. At the range I plan to continue using just regular 38 specials but for home protection I was thinking of getting some +P ammo which I would occasionally shoot small quantities of when it was time to buy fresh home protection ammo.
The Model 14 was made primarily as a target gun. The 6" barrel and sights made for a good combination, and the 14 will hold it's own on any target course. With 148 gr. HBWC's over about 2.7 gr. Bullseye (or 3.0 gr 231) will show you just how well this gun will shoot. I would expect 1 1/2" to 2" groups at 25 yards.
