What movies were the Model 10 prominantly depicted in
Above said question. And I don't mean, "look there's a Model 10, I think, in a background cops holster" I mean where it was the main gun, used by the main character(s) before Glock and Beretta took over the movie market.
Sean Connery served one for lunch to a dead mobster in The Untouchables as well as threatened a corrupt police captain from 1988
Andy Garcia rescued Kevin Costner at the subway station with one even serving a bullet for supper to a hostage taker on 2 in The Untouchables.
Bad guys and good guys on all the old Saturday serials in the 40s used pre-M10 4 inches (like Superman and Rocketman) Bad guys would pull S&W service guns and blaze away at Superman.

Speaking of Superman, don't forget the opening intro on the old George Reeve's series that showed a m&p (model 10) while others fired a Colt Official Police or Police Positive while the announcer was referring to Superman being "faster than a speeding bullet".

West Side Story ends with a murder committed with a 10. After the murder the grieving young lady then threatens both gangs with it.
How many decades has it been since only one shot was fired in a movie? These days you get bored watching a zillion shots being fired.
Edit to add: Tracer Bullet posted the internet movie database while I typed. It does not include Westside Story.

Anybody remember the opening of the old Superman TV show?
A criminal empties his revolver at Superman who stands there without flinching as the bullets bounce off him. Then the exasperated bad guy throws the gun at his head, and Superman ducks so it won't hit him!

Oh sure, just 'cause you didn't think of it
The only one I can think of right off the top of my head (other than "The Untouchables", which was already mentioned), is "Police Academy". All of the recruits except Tackleberry used them.

I remember the "Untouchables" movie. Sean Connery tapped one of the guys in the area of a shoulder holster, and asked, " Why the mahaska"?, or something to that effect. I never heard that reference to a firearm before, or since.

In "The Road" (2009), the father carries an old M10 and uses it to shoot a creep who just grabbed his son. At one point, he runs out of ammo and carves some out of wood so it looks like the gun is loaded.

If we're going to drift over into TV, just about all the police shows (and movies--'The Naked Gun movies pop to mind) featured M10s.

One movie not shown in the IMDB list where the use of a Victory Model was prominent was "PT-109." I'd be surprised if there aren't more movies of the war genre where Victories appear also.

Mind wandering drift
As a kid, we used the word "mahoskus".and it was anything that gave you an edge. (like "hidden odds" I mentioned elsewhere as my AR nickname)
And now that I think about it, an irish kid, Morissy, introduced it into our lingo.

Too Late The Hero.....old WWII movie with Cliff Robertson and Michael Caine.
Pretty sure Robertson carried an M&P but it might have been a Colt. Haven't seen it in years.

Aside from The Untouchables, the one that always comes to mind for me is "Blue Steel," with Jamie Lee Curtis.
Not a movie, but Sully did pretty well with his Model 10 in the TV Series "Third Watch."

Harry Morgan's character, Detective Bill Gannon, actually had the correct LAPD revolver, the S&W Combat Masterpiece, Model 15, with 4 inch barrel. Both weapons are very clearly seen in the episode where Friday has Gannon and his wife over to his apartment for dinner and they stop the two criminals in the act of breaking into the coin operated washing machines in the basement of Friday's apartment building.

Thanks for the correction! They must have lived in rough neighborhoods. I'd never seen this episode. But, I remember when Friday went over to Gannon's house for dinner & they caught a burglar next door!

Does anyone know if Sergeant Friday's 2" 10 had a square or round butt? It looks like the front sight is a ramp.

The "lnternet firearms database site" is not complete by any means, but it is fun to look through and is sometimes helpful if you see a gun in a movie and just aren't sure what it was.

There was an episode where Friday had to shoot a criminal who shot at him. I think the episode is called "The Shooting Board".
IIRC, Friday's revolver is shown lying on a table, and it was a square butt. If I'm remembering correctly.

In the first Dragnet tv series there is a scene where a yellow box is brought to Fridays desk. His partner frank smith (Ben Alexander) wants to know what it is. Friday tells him it's a .38 military & police airweight . In dragnet 67 Friday is asked by a bad gun why he's carrying the old 38 military & police airweight. Friday replies I qualify with it.

Watched some of "The Deer Hunter" recently. When DeNiro and Walken are prisoners and playing Russian Roulette I'm pretty sure they are using a Model 10. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Charles Bronson in The Stone Killers.
Also, there was an episode of Star Trek in which Mr Sulu finds a Model 10 and enjoys recreationally shooting the antique. We will need a trekkie to provide better detail, however.

I don't want to hijack the thread but i have a gun book here at home and it has an entry in it that states that barney fife used to different service revolvers.
The Colt Official police and the S&W Model 10 of course he did not use both guns at the same time.

The 4" OP is by far the one most commonly seen on the show. The Andy Griffith Show remains the pinnacle of television entertainment to this day, even though they "jumped the shark" the last two seasons.
