Spotted a blued 15-3 at the LGS, and the asking price is $399.

Finish is about 80% with normal wear, and a couple spots on the cylinder where surface rust had been, but no pitting. No gouges or any big scratches or anything like that. The stocks are regular magnas.

Gun is mechanically excellent. Locks up like a bank vault and has a very nice trigger.

What sayeth you, members of the jury? :)

A few months ago, I went to look at a revolver and ended up coming home with a 1955 pre 15 and a 1952 pre 10. The pre 15 had a $399.00 tag on it - I did some horse trading and finagling since I was going to buy two Smiths - at any rate - I'm thrilled to death with the pre 15 that I got. I would have paid more for it if necessary just because I liked it so much. Mine is about 90% but the grips were changed out to a smooth target style of unknown mfg. I think that is a decent and fair price on it and if you like a sweet shooting pistol - you will love it! I love the sights on it and it is just a fun gun to shoot. If you get it - please post a photo of it for us!

Okay, I went to the LGS and put the gun on layaway. I couldn't buy it today, because it is still in it's 30-day "quarantine" as a used gun to make sure it isn't stolen.

My memory is faulty because the gun turned out to be a 15-2 instead of a 15-3. It is mechanically superb.

Thanks for the replies and advice.

NICE !!!
While the 15-2 and 15-3 are "Mechanically" the same with the only real difference being the rear site screw location I prefer a dash 2 over a dash 3 for the sole reason that a dash 2 usually has "Diamond" grips.

Even if the OEM set is toast you can fit diamond targets ,
IMO diamond target equipt Smiths just look sexier.

Here is one a fellow forum member let me have at a great price:

Correct time frame for Viet Nam of 1969 and this is the way I carried.
