Price difference : 4" no dash 57 blue VS 29-2 4" blue
Assuming that condition is the same, which one has an edge in value/price? 4inch no dash 57 or 4 inch 29-2 blue? Both N series , mid 1970's guns. Both 98%+ , both have no boxes, both original wood.

the 29 probably, just because of its caliber. the 41 cal guns have their devout followers also. you really need to be a reloader to enjoy what either is capable of. basically, pick what you want. ideally buy both.

I agree with perrazi. The edge would go to the 29-2 given all your assumptions. Looking at the SCSW (Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson), albeit from 2006, the value for a 57 no dash is $575 and the value for a 29-2 is $700 in excellent condition. Fast forwarding to today you might add about $200 value to each gun?

I have been following both on GB.
The 29 seems to go for a little more, but the 57s are getting snapped up too, so based on Internet prices, I'd say they are close. I can't speak to LGS because I very rarely see 4" pinned and recessed N Frames locally. The only two I have seen at an LGS, I have bought both. I would someday like to get a 4" 29 and a 4" 57 myself.
Good luck to you, whatever you decide to do.
All things being equal, and if you want both, but can only get one for now. Get the 57, because there does not seem to be a lot of them out there. The 29 s seem to be be more available.

Most folks will say the 29 is more valuable. Ammunition is more available for the 29. As far as quality they are the same. I really prefer shooting the .41 though.
