Anybody Identify These Grips

I think that they are these: Target Revolver Gun Stock
I looked at those, but they were different. Checkering on ones I have is not as large an area as those. Also checkering on back of ones I have is only on back of left side grip. Ones shown in link has checkering on back of both panels. I'm thinking maybe Buck Rogers ray gun grips, ha. They are large and odd looking, but surprising they feel really good on the 25-2, 6.5 bbl, they came with.

I'm away from home, so can't check my picture file, but as I recall the slight suggestion of finger grooves is a Mershon identifier.

I see what you mean. I own grips very similar. The ones I have were knock offs of the Herrett grips. I can't remember if they were Sile or some other brand. I bought them on sale from CDNN years ago. These types grips were all the range decades ago, among bullseye shooters. They aren't so popular nowadays. They could make a neat project for modification to carry or "combat" grips if you felt like grinding and sanding away at them.

My first guess would be Sile, but they are not marked "Made in Italy" so they may be something else.

In any case don't chop them up, sell them to me if you want some combats and buy what you want.

You know, I didn't even notice the slight suggestion of finger grooves until you mentioned it. Only markings on inside is "45". They really fit the 25-2 well and it's probably a '70 to '72 made revolver. They are fitted to top of backstrap, underneath and side of trigger guard and to side plate perfectly.

Here's a 1962 ad with a not very good picture.

Linde reminded me that he has a pair of grips like this that are marked as made in Italy.

To add to the mystery, note these two seemingly identical boxes, one printed Sile and the second with a Mershon label pasted where Sile would be.

I'm reviving an older thread, but this is a topic that interests me.

Note that the Mershon ad talks about "fine IMPORTED walnut grips". The company history of Mershon at its end is a bit murky; I'm not sure they produced anything independently anymore; in fact, a lot of sources claim the company was taken over in its entirety by Pachmayr in about 1959; I used to believe that too, but have since begun to doubt. That ad from 1962 is the latest mention of Mershon as a business I've seen so far (and it's not independent, but just a division of another corporation).

If anyone has additional information about Mershon, please share. I'm particularly interested in their grip adapters and just how early they were around. The earliest mention I've heard about is from 1939.

I have saved a Mershon ad - for the "10 Point" rubber grip - from a 1966 dated magazine. The Guns magazine on-line archive would be an easy place to check for more ads.
