1977 great, thanks. It's nice to know the age :)
Anything else about this particular model that is noteworthy?
I don't have the original double action parts, do S&W sell them?

The 24K numbers are divided between 1978 and 1979, as follows:

24K1 - 24K6700 = 1978
24K6701 - 24K9999 = 1979

Yours at 24K1099 would be from 1978.

Does your hammer have the double action notch? That makes a difference if you want to convert it back to double action. Others here can provide the details.

It should be fairly easy to find parts if you need them. eBay usually has a lot. The .500 target ones are pricey but regular hammers and triggers are inexpensive and plentiful.

Is the "double action notch" an internal thing or is it visible without taking it a part? Btw this is my first handgun :)

With the hammer cocked (cylinder empty!), look down the front of the hammer. If the face is smooth, it is a single action hammer. If there is a notch part way down, it is a double action hammer. In the latter case, an internal part has been removed to make the revolver SAO.

Can you tell from this images? Is the notch that silver thingy at the bottom? Could it be a double action hammer?

No, the "silver thingy" is not what you are looking for. Note in the attached pic...single action hammer on the left, double action hammer on the right. The DA hammer has a very distinct notch on the face of the hammer. It is smooth without the notch on the SA hammer.

Thank you very much.

The previous owner (82 years old) does remember having a gunsmith change it from DA to SA and it is now confirmed that my hammer is a SA - The problem is that he does not remember how it was done. If the gunsmith modified with or without a conversion kit.
But it seems that my hammer is original SA, would you agree?
