Hello, I'm from Brazil. If anyone knows the model and approximate year of production of this family revolver, I would appreciate it! (cal 38, exactly 4 inch tube)

Welcome to the Forum. You have a 38 Military & Police, 4th Change revolver. I cannot tell if the serial number starts with an "8" or a "6"? Neat serial number anyway. If a 600,003 it would date around 1929, if an 800,003, it would have shipped in 1941.

Thank you very much! serial number is 600003

600003 makes much more sense for some of its features. It is a .38 M&P round butt, ca. 1929-30.
Thank you very much! I also find it strange, I haven't found any exactly the same, but the history indicates it is genuine. (I added a photo of the serial number on the cylinder that confirms)

I completely agree with DWalt on this. 1930ish is correct. By that time, the round butt units are becoming relatively uncommon. All the features are in agreement with a 600,000 serial number. A pretty nice find.

Round butt M&Ps from that time period are a little unusual. By that time those with square butts were much more common. The extractor rod knob style indicates post-1927, while the small S&W logo stamp on the left side of the frame indicates pre-1937.

Thanks for the information!

Thank you! I really haven't found any identical to mine. All the ones I've seen with the same structure and the same extractor rod button have a square stock. And when I find one that is extremely similar, with a rounded stock, I see that the extractor rod button is slightly different! Well, maybe it fits soon after 1927 or a little later... before the modification in the stocks.
