Wood Stocks
I found a pair of S&W revolver stocks but I don't remember where I got them from. I don't see any number written on the inside but they do have the number 647630 stamped into the wood. Is that a part number or the serial number of the gun they came off of?

If they are regular "magna" stocks (not the larger Target Stocks) that would probably be the serial number of the original gun...

If that were the case can anyone give me the details on the gun? They are not the target stocks.

Without more information they could be from any of several models. Could be from a gun that had a letter prefix which could be C, K, S, N, D, or several others depending on frame size. This could range from the 1930s to the 1980s depending on frame size and letter! Photos would help, but probably not a lot.

Actually, if they were target stocks, it would be very surprising that they were numbered. Nearly all of those shipped without an identifying serial number.
On the other hand, pictures of them will enable us to nail down the era quite easily and probably get us very close to the year.
From your description, they could be from the 1930s or later and could be on just about any one of the various sorts of service stocks, including the Magna type.

I encourage you to post a picture or two of them. If you have no use for them, could well be someone here would like to buy them for a fair price.

Here are a few photos of the stocks. I am in the process of refinishing them but would like to know what gun they belong to if that is possible.

They are K frame Modified Magnas (aka PC magnas) from approx. 1969 to 1973.
They would have been on fixed sight revolver

Then they may of been off my Model 10 HB I had when I was a police officer in NYC in 1974. If that is the case I don't know what stocks were on the gun when I sold it. Does the stamped number mean anything as far as the ID of the gun?

Based on the lack of diamonds you are probably right about them coming from a Model 10. If this is the case the prefix would have been D, and fall into the 1973-1974 date range. It would then have been a Model 10-6 it seems.
There were target sighted guns that used the PC Magna stocks, particularly the Dayton/Hannen Specials, but those were several years earlier and would have been Diamond PC Magnas. If so the prefix would have been a K, but your SN would have been from 1965. That fits right into the Dayton/Hannen time frame.
