Somewhat reluctantly took this one in trade yesterday. Wasn't really sure how to value it; half the value of a nice original finish? It is tight, throats are oversize as is often the case, although that isn't much of an issue with my other 25-5s. The finish is growing on me a bit, I'll shoot it next week. Any thoughts on value would be appreciated. Normally I'd say "whatever you paid for it is the value" but this was part of a multi-gun trade so value at the time was fuzzy at best. Anybody like hard chrome on a 25-5?

That's about where I'd vote. Just got my first hard chromed gun, and I'm liking it so far...

I really like hard chrome. Really in the 5-600 range, I feel like there is still room to make money, even if the finish isn't original. If you are keeping it, it will make a darn handsome and tough carrying piece.

Jeez, I like it. Right up my alley. I couldn't use them on the job, but always loved the look. I think you got a peach.

I love Hard Chrome.

I am thinking of getting my model 28-2 hard Chromed, and I want to get the frame of my Series '70 Colt Hard Chromed to give it that nice two-tone look.

Yes, me me me me!!! I like hard chrome especially for guns that will be out and about in the elements. Before stainless guns were available in great quantities or varieties I had a 59,28, Colt Commander (steel frame) and custom Gov't model hard chromed in the late 70s.

They're all long gone (divorce IS expensive :D) but they were great guns and looked as good when I sold them as when I first got them.

Never had one, but I like the look. I like stainless too, but for a refinish on a finish worn blued gun, I think I'd choose hard chrome over a reblue. Since collectability goes out the window with a refinish either way, I'd choose the durability of the hard chrome for sure....

I have never owned a chromed gun. But if it was a shooter (it would be) what would be wrong with it? There is certainly nothing objectionable about the looks or durability. Set the right 1 in front of me, and it will disappear! Bob

I like it fine...1917 Colt .45

I like it, I am not a nickel fan, (each to there own). I think that hard chrome is an excellent finish. I would shell out $600 for a 4" hard chromed 25-5 and never look back and I already have 2 stainless 45 colts.

I even have a couple of spare dinged up 28s and a couple 45 barrels that are slatted for conversion, Might just have one hard chromed.

I may be getting ready to find out about HC. I have a 1917 that I put a 625-10 barrel on. So to cover the SS barrel and blued frame, it's what I'm leaning toward.
I like that 25-5 and agree with others on $500-600.
