NIB 10-5 1969 unfired
Got it today, SN#D20XXX. 5" barrel. Said to be '69 with all the goodies. I have many handguns and shoot 'em all but I think I'll save this one for my boy when he's ready. Patched barrel and chambers with a little oil and patch came out as clean as it went in. Not rare but I couldn't pass it up. If anyone can tell me more about this model or SN# I'd appreciate it.

Elegant revolver.
I have the same one, same time frame in nickel. Shows some wear, nothing deep or flaked. Fantastic shooter.
If you can keep it without firing, you're a better man than I.
I'm sure your boy loves you!

The minty ones do come along from time to time, but not that often. My guess is that maybe 1 out of 50 M10's from the 1960's and 1970's still exist in 98% plus condition. Most of the ones I see look like they've been run over by a big truck.

My book says that a D20XXX S&W was probably made in 1968. I had one identical to it and foolishly let one of my best friends talk me out of it. I can still go over to his house and play with it, but it just ain't the same. I've still got a 4" blue and a 2" nickel 10-5, but I miss my 5". They are all very excellent shooters. Enjoy yours.

It's not tackteacool enough for the mall ninjas but in the real world it will do everything that most people need a pistol to do. Give it to your son and I bet he will be the happiest kid in the neighborhood. Larry

Congrates! Have one just like it I bought NIB about 20 years ago. Great shooter, just couldn't let it sit as it was made for shooting. Just love the M10s.

I have a D47xxx that shipped in June 1968, so yours is pretty much guaranteed to have been made in 1968 (since the D prefix started that year), although of course it could have shipped anytime thereafter.

Boy, that's a really nice one, with all the stuff to go with it! I have one just like it, except it ain't that nice (but it's pretty nice) and I don't have the box, etc. Your's is pretty exceptional, in my book. Congratulations. Your son should be very proud to have it, especially if he gets to shoot it!!!!

Now THAT is a handsome M&P right there. You dun good. Hopefully, your son will appreciate that gift when he's old enough.
LOVE the 5" pencil standard barrel, too!

That's a real jewel, and I'm very envious.
My four-inch 1967 10-5 is on loan to a neighbor, and I miss it. It most definitely isn't remotely comparable to yours, but it's a fine old revolver.

What a great revolver!
Your son is a lucky guy!
Perhaps you'd consider adopting me? ;-)

Now that you mention it, He's adopted, and his sibling sister
He has no interest in firearms yet. I can't pry him from his video
games but we do limit his time on them. When he shows sincere interest
I'll take him with me to punch some holes in paper.

They shoot quite well, if you decide to use it.

I must have one of those minty ones! Got mine about four years ago and it looked like it had spent the previous 35 years in someone's sock drawer. For $320, I either paid too much or bought too early. Likely worth more now.
But I have shot it a lot. And I love it. No plans to sell.

You're a good man, Charlie Brown!
I can't think of a better man to get such a fine handgun!
