Default Picked up an early Model 51

Picked this up a week ago at a small gun show here in Ohio.
Had some Goodyears that I removed and replaced with wood. Looking for some correct diamonds for it. Serial is 826XX. Wondering what year it might be and some idea of currant value. Probably 90% or less condition. Thanks.

I think around 1966/67. Probably whatever you paid is the actual value, but the newly published 4th Edition of the S&W Standard Catalog says $1200 NIB to $350 for fair. Given 90% or less and incorrect stocks I would think somewhere around $475-$525 would get my attention. I'd probably be willing to pay a little more than "market" because I don't see them often and would like to have one. Enjoy.

I sold an "M" prefix serial number model 51 two years ago for $1250.00 to a very motivated buyer. It didn't have a box, tools or papers, but it was in pristine condition. $750-800 wouldn't be out of the question in good condition, even without the numbered stocks. There were about 600 of them made with round butts, and they can fetch serious money.

I searched for three years before I found my M-51. Simply not one of those Kit Guns one sees very often.

Nice snag!
