If you are referring to the integral lock, call factory customer service and they will send a key to you; at least they have done this in the past. If you are referring to a separate lock a locksmith may be your only option.

If you're talking about and aftermarket a trigger lock (not the internal lock) then a drill to carefully remove the lock cylinder would be the cheap way. Other than that it will require a locksmith - or at least someone with a set of lock pick tools who knows how to use them.

How far away are you from an LGS that sells new Smiths..? Borrow a key for a second.

Sounds like you've got a trigger lock that you placed on the trigger rather than the internal lock. Depending on which one you have, many only have a few different keys. I have dozens of a blue model and when I need to unlock one I grab one of about five keys and one of them will open the lock. If you have multiple trigger locks, try one of the other keys. If you don't, but know where you got the lock, take the gun there and try more keys assuming the seller still has product. Good luck.

If this is a trigger guard lock there a a few videos on youtube that show you how to open it using a drill.

Trigger locks are a staggering Rule 3 violation and should be avoided at all costs. I can still remember being issued our new 4566s in 1999 everyone pitching the lock as soon as they had signed for the pistol.

We don't have kids and people are in our house maybe twice a year, so I have guns that are ready to use, and guns that are in the safe. No in between status. If you feel compelled to have your gun locked for some reason, use a different system.

Exactly. Throw all locks and keys away. It's loaded and at your finger tips or it's empty and in the safe. There is no in between.
Practice safe and accepted firearms handling and storage rules.

Appreciate all the advice on keeping a gun at home, having been a LEO for 30 years and a firearms instructor for 27 of them I'm more than familure with a "ready" condition with a firearm, however I live in one of the most strictest states with firearms laws...yes, New Jersey! I also know personally a family that involved a 5 year old being killed by another youngster due to loaded guns being left in the house and available. With that said, this is a co-worker at a job that I work and was just shown a picture of the gun today, shackle lock thru the cylinder so this is an easy one. Again, thanks for the advice on the lock issue..
