S&W 10-7 re-import date?
Acquired a S&W Model 10-7 3” HB about a month ago, it was listed as a 10-5 but according to the Standard Cat of S&W it’s actually a -7. CAI re-import and I believe it had originally gone to Australia in 1979-80 (it’s a 1979 mfg). It’s a wonderful little gun and I’m wondering approx when Century re-imported them?
Any input is appreciated.

I think there were a fairly large number of these on the US market about four or five years ago.

It pains me to say I saw these when they were plentiful at $275 or $300, it was lost on me the benefits of the 3” over the common 4”, and I wasn’t ready to start purchasing revolvers. It was 7-8 years ago, I believe.

My 10-7 is a square butt snub, former service gun, that I purchased from my department when we transitioned to the stainless revolvers.

Unless you can find out from CAI when it was reimported, there is no way to tell.

Here's one I bought. From the dates on the pictures and notes, I must have bought it late in 2004. Of course they may have been re-imported in different batches at different times. Or they came back all at once, who knows.
Really nice gun, great barrel length for an M-10. I was told by the seller that it was a re-import from a PD in Australia. Mine must have been maintained by a S&W trained armorer. The FFL that handled the sale told me the action felt perfect. It does have a few dings and dents as most ex-LEO guns do.

Mine came from the Victoria police and still had the inventory control sticker on it. I just added a grip adapter and bobbed the hammer

Mine came with an ivory BK adapter and an action job by Nelson Ford of Phoenix, AZ.

Hi,
Just a question: is there a orange line on the front sight?
Thanks.

Very cool guns! I have a snubby model 10, and a 4" model 15 but I could see how the 3" barrel would be a great package. I have a 3" J frame, and it had great balance and the barrel length just feels "Right". I also have a 3" Ruger SP101, and I love it and shoot it well, even with U notch rear sights.
