Hello all,

Let me start off by saying that the Wanenmacher show in Tulsa was a complete success! If you haven’t been I highly recommend you take a trip to one of the shows, you won’t be disappointed. It was a pleasure to speak with several highly knowledgeable collectors there. I picked up several factory boxes and a set of beautiful factory N frame combat grips. I was simply amazed walking through the show and stumbled across a Model 19-2 3”! A collector and I were able to come to an agreement on the deal.

Does anyone know the total number of 3” model 19’s that were produced? The revolver includes a target hammer and target trigger. I plan to send a request for a letter of authenticity through S&W. After speaking with the fellow collector he informed me that “Chris SW357” was able to provide him with some amazing information as shown below. I still need to give it a good cleaning and possibly take some Ren wax to it. This is by far my favorite Smith revolver, followed by my Smith & Wesson 586-4 2.5”. The information “Chris” provided states this is 1 of 4!

That’s a great one. I saw one at the show. Saturday was as busy as I’ve seen it. I saw two guns that I would have liked at good prices. But I decided to be good and not buy until I sold something. Later in the day, I sold two guns and the others were gone. That’s how I came home with cash. Great buy on your part. I’m sure you’ll enjoy that one.

I live here in Tulsa but had to miss this one due to other commitments. Been to several in the past, you are correct about this being a very good show. Nice Model 19 too!

The Tulsa Show is the larges gun show in the world, I am told.

I was talking to a county Deputy who was the head of Security the last time I was there several years ago, and IIRC he said that by noon on Saturdays there are 100,000 people in the building, minimum. Some years more, a whole lot more.
Have also heard that when the show is over and bills paid for security, electricity, water, janitors, shuttle buses, Wannamacher makes a bank deposit of around half-a-million dollars. Again, sometimes more.

Can’t say for sure if all this is true, but I’ll bet it’s close.
If anyone has better and more current information I would like to hear it.

This world just keeps getting smaller.
I took the attached picture at the Tulsa show to remind me of location on a 3" Model 19 of interest. The seller was away from table and the price tag turned upside down. As I looked at this post on your 3" M19 I recalled taking the picture as 3" 19's are rarely seen, if at all.
Look at the bottom left on the photo. Look familiar?
Congratulations on landing that beauty!

Ray,

Thank you Sir. That is exactly where I acquired the 3” model 19. The gentleman I acquired the revolver from was extremely fair with his prices and a pleasure to do business with.

The letter shown underneath the revolver in your picture is what was provided in my original post. I’m still amazed at the history this revolver carries.

Here is a near twin to yours, TH and TT, but no red ramp or white outline. Shipped in the summer of 1966.

Wow! What a really lovely revolver; Congratulations.
Just as a minor comment, I distinctly remember a 3" round butt 19 nickel with red & white's, target hammer and trigger that was owned and carried by an ATF agent. I remember the gun only because he showed it to me and I remarked how unusual it was. He told me he purchased it direct from S&W in that configuration. This would have been in the mid 70's some time. Cheers

That’s 25% more than the NRA’s annual meeting over 3 days!

The 3" 19 should have been offered from 1954- today! When you look at the popularity of the 3 1/2" 27 ..... seems a natural w/ full length ejector rod!!!! Even the 19-8(?) only got a 2 3/4 inch barrel. ?????????????

Every time these show up here it reminds me how lucky I was to get a brace of 3" 66-3s back in the 1980s! NO one wanted them then........ A later one; a "used" 66-4, is still my favorite concealed carry revolver... with Spegel Boot Grips carried in a Sparks Summer Special.
