While driving to a gunsmith to pick up a Winchester 100 in .284 my friend yelled PAWN SHOP, pull in. Nice place with lots of guns. The one that caught my eye was the 10-5 from ~ 1964. It's the nicest 10-5 I've seen in a while. It appears to have a very low round count and has be well cared for over the decades. Marked at $700 with no box, it had only been out for a few days. The guy behind the counted was ready to move it out and priced it so that I had to buy it. It might have helped when I mention my first issue weapon in Vietnam was a 10-5. He asked me if I was a pilot and of course my answer was affirmative. Great little C prefix M&P, and my pictures don't come close to showing it's high condition.

The D prefix didn't start until 1968. They went as high as D90000
(five digits) that year.

You are absolutely correct. I was only off by one letter and a decade.

SN: C 676419.

Now I need to go back to my ship date request to see if I made the same mistake.

You need to check this part (bolt sleeve) that the firing pin passes through. They are prone to break and extremely hard to find. Back in the 1980s, I repaired a Model 100 and had to make one using a Grade 8 bolt and my poor man's lathe.

Thanks. I'm aware there was a recall on that and this one had not been sent back. Already bought and install carrier lifter spring (for a Win 1890 22S. Did not know GPC had the new type Firing pin and the pin it passes through. Back to Numrich.
