Here are two that belonged to the Chief. A model 19 snub and a 13 3", both have the beautiful blue that S&W was known for. Both served honorably here in S Texas. I have no doubt that the chief is one of 'us'.

Anyone else collect LE guns?

I enjoy them and partake when one speaks to me. One that hasn’t been on the forum much is a 10-5 shipped in 1965 to International Distributors in Miami. It was part of a 223 gun order of which there were 50 two inch Model 10’s like mine and 50 Chief Specials. The best clue is that a “Major Khoury” special ordered a 39. The gun is engraved B22167 on the left side. According to the Miami PD Retired Officers President who is 85, there wasn’t a Major Khoury on the Dept in 1965. He was also the former Quartermaster of Arms and said they didn’t electric pencil rack numbers on guns, the guns were issued by Serial Number. So I’m temporarily stuck. As a side note he said the distributor used to let LEO’s buy one gun each year at cost. I need someone that is sleuthier than me to find an Obit or record of an LEO of the 60’s so I can determine which Dept they were at. I won’t give up. Beautiful gun. I bought it from another Forum member and then lettered it and got the invoice.

Very nice Scott. No, I don't collect them but probably should think about checking a few of my likely candidates though (pre-war HD with well worn right grip panel for example). This pre-27 went to the Kansas City PD in September of 1950 although I have no idea who used it. . . .and back to the mothership for a refinish in 1982. Has probably been enjoying a well deserved retirement since then given its very nice condition.

Here is my entry into this thread: An Austin, TX, PD #307, 27-2, 3.5" barrel, originaly nickel and factory refinished. Shown with an APD badge and a photo of Charles Lacey, one of the officeres listed on the blue card (also shown). Officers Lacey was later killed in the line of duty when he interruped a kidnapping/rape. The holster is an early Bianchi break front model 27.

I have no pics, but I have a lettered 6" pre war M&P, shipped to Thompson-Diggs Co. Sacramento, Calif. for delivery to the Sacramento PD. One gun in shipment. Gun is unmarked and in new condition. Shipped in 1940.
Also, a .38 Regulation Police marked CPD #110 for the Chelsea MA. PD. Shipped in 1930. They ordered 20. This little town is where I was born in 1942. Big Larry

I have a few by happenstance, but I don't collect them. And the ones I've had range from rifle to plastic. My favorite is this Marlin .35 Remington from the Atlanta area.

I sold this one years ago, but it belonged to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

The one on the left is a CS-1 2M gun. The peekaboo grips are put up, but I have them.

I was told this 1076 may have been issued in Virginia based on the stamped number added to it, but I have no idea if that's accurate.

Based on wear pattern of this HD from the '30s, I'd bet money this one was a police gun at some point, but it's not lettered so it's a guess.

This .45 was issued to me from 2012 to 2017, and I was able to purchase it when they were phased out.

This is my final duty gun, the one I carried until I retired this year.

I do not collect LEO guns, but this one is in my stable of the Chiefs Special variety. It was invoiced to The City of Elmira NY, for the Elmira Reception Center, Department of Correction. Seems to be a very early shipment of the Chiefs Special that left the factory on August 24, 1951. It is pictured here with several period items from the Department of Corrections.

I started reading this thread thinking I had one. Then I though more and realized I have three LE issued guns.

In 1983 I was a deputy sheriff in Laramie County, Wyoming. We got a new sheriff in January who told us to put our semi auto pistols away and carry revolvers. The only revolver I had was a Dan Wesson 4 inch 44 mag. I dutifully carried 44 special loads in the gun, no magnums allowed. After about a month we were all called to the office and issued 18 rounds of 38 Special +P lead hollowpoints. I dropped one of the 38 rounds into the cylinder of my 44 (and it fell all the way through) and I told the LT something was wrong with his ammo.

I was told to get a 38. I had a FFL at the time and found a bunch of NYSP S&W Model 28 trade-ins, and I ended up buying about 20 of them for myself and my fellow deputies. Unfortunately I left the SO in 1984 for the Wyoming Highway Patrol and had to sell the Model 28 to survive. I recently found another NYSP Model 28, which is safely in my gun safe.

Three moths after I got to the WHP we were issued Beretta Model 92 SB pistols. I carried this one for ten years until the agency updated to Beretta Model 96 pistols. I was able to buy my Model 92. The picture of the box is typical of how WHP managed equipment. My badge number was P-131 and I was in Division L, in Newcastle, WY.

Earlier this year I was contacted by the WHP Inventory Officer asking if I wanted to buy a recently traded Glock Model 35 with my Sergeant badge number on it. I eventually did so and it is now my nightstand pistol. If you look very closely you can see the WHP marking on the slide.
