Letter A stamped on cylinder yoke
Would a letter stamped on the inside of the cylinder yoke be an assembly stamp.

Which model is it?
S&W stamped a "V" on many stainless cylinders after 1980 to designate the material.

Model 11. Has an A stamped on the yoke. A second one has an R.
Both are C prefix 1960-1961 shipped.

Those are likely fitter's, assembler's or inspector's stamps.

All my Model 60 cylinders are stamped with the "V". My earliest is one Dr. Jinks' letter says is one of the first 12 manufactured in 1965.
