LH or RH?
Again I figure LH for all these models but checking here.
While I’m at it…
I have a pre 17, and a bunch of P & R models.
N frame magnum -2’s, 25-2 and 25-5
K frame 19-3’s and 66-1’s.
All left hand thread on the extractor rod?

I have a 27-2, 28-2 and 629 no dash that need a little end shake attention.
Also, what are the differences in length with the rods?
All different or only some?
This post may need to be in the smithing forum but it does only pertain to this era apart from the pre 17, so I figure I’d ask here.

Thanks in advance for any info

Here's an easy reference...The circled area shows a machined notch between the knurled end and the rest of the extractor rod...This indicates a left hand thread present on -1 revolvers and later...Without the notch you have an earlier right hand thread...I think there may be exceptions with some J-frames but someone else will have to fill in that blank......Ben

The snubs all have shorter rods, I haven't messed with many L frames, but, K frames and N frames are different lengths. Where there little collar on the center pin is located changed at some point. I am not sure just which ones and when. I have played mix match and adjust with rods and center pins more than once trading cylinders and barrels

J frames were all left hand thread way before K and N frames started using left

Even among the same era and frame size they can vary a little bit. They are actually a fitted part. That is why the end of the rod is often in the white. The barrel fit up can cause the distance to the barrel lug to vary as can just where the cross pin in piece for the lug tooth got drilled, so the rod length (and center pin) often needs a trimmed a little bit.
