model 29-2 questions

I bought model 29-2 today from a local gun shop
it is a 4" barrel
sr# S-2520XX
also it has Marcas Registradas stamped on the frame above the Smith & Wesson
What is this ? and what year was it made.
I will post pics when I get it home (3day wait)

Probably from 1965. The Marcas Registras is a trademark requirement for south of the border and has been on legit S&W revolvers for quite some number of years. Perfectly normal, and in fact it would be odd if it didn't have it.

Welcome back to the Forum. Congratulations on a nice acquisition. As you know, .44 Magnums (and Model 29s) are very popular here, and there is a wealth of information available from our members. Your 4" Model 29-2 (blued?) is a very desirable revolver, particularly since it's an early one with the S-prefix serial number (25-50% premium). As robertwalsh mentioned, it was manufactured ca. 1965. Current value would depend upon its condition, including its wood stocks. The stocks should be Goncalo Alves checked diamond center Target stocks. We would enjoy seeing some pictures whenever you get your new revolver home. I have a few in my modest collection. Enjoy!
