I picked this 32-1 #R695XX up last week, box, papers and near new condition. I was thinking it was an I frame, but have learned the -1 is a J frame. First one I have seen. Anything special about these or just another shooter?

Sure is a neat looking snubby. Are those the grips that came with the gun? They look somehow...I don't know, different. Not bad, just not the usual magnas you see most of the time.

It is a really neat gun. The grips are from a later era J frame. In the Chicago PD that was the issue weapon for Policewomen for many years, till 1975 to be exact. The theory being that the little ladies would have trouble with the big bad 38 special!
Unless it is unfired and with all the accessories in the original box I would call it a shooter and have fun with it. There are some botique 32 loads available that make it a fair to middling defense weapon. And it has 6 shots!

I stand corrected it is a 38 S&W, DUH! SO you only got 5 shots. Still a neat little gun.

Those stocks are round butt targets, often called bananas. The serial number will be on the butt of the gun, but I thought post-1969 Terriers had H prefixes like the .32 Regulation Police. Please check and let me know.

Hey s&wchad; if you look in the serial # section of "THE BOOK" (SC of S&Ws), you will see that the "R" prefix was used from 1969-1983 on model #s 60, 651, 32, & 33. The "H" prefix was only used on the models 30 & 31.

Thanks guys. No marking on the grips so they are more than likely replacements. They feel good in my hand. I think it's a shooter. Thanks again.

Crate Builder........ I think you will enjoy shooting the little 38 S&W. I shoot my 1905 Victory style 38 S&W with a 158 gr round nose lead bullet, and 3.5 grains of Unique, and it is a "WHACKER". Try it, you'll like it!!!!!
