I have done many searches on the forum and there is a lot of posts on the Model 27.... but I could not find a central post that includes history, info, and what we all like to see...PICTURES.
I will start with my 27-2. 3-1/2" barrel. It is new and unfired. Pinned and recessed. Born between 68-69. It has to be one of the prettiest and coolest revolvers out there. But that is just my humble opinion.
Enjoy...

I guess this is technically not qualified, it is a Pre-27.

Not a pristine example, but it's a great shooter. 1954 pre-27.

Here is one I bought used in 1968 for $150 from a co-worker at that time. It was manufactured about 1957. It still shoots very well, and is like an old friend at this point, after owning it for 40 years.

This one has not been fired since the factory, but I've come close.
This one has been fired, but not much.
That's it for me and 27s right now.

I've got a handful of 27s but this pre-27 5" 5 screw is my all time favorite revolver.

Sir, here's my one lone 27, a dash-2 from the early '70s.
It's got a very nice trigger--makes accurate DA shooting easy.
Hope this helps, and Semper Fi.

I have seen nice wood grips on eBay and other auction sites. You will just have to keep an eye open.
I too like the diamond grips on my 27-2 and I have done some research and have found that those are coveted by many. Especially if they are also coke grips. If you do find some, don't be surprised if you see them going for as high as $200. But, I am sure that there are deals out there.
Good luck.
