High polish model 60 stainless 1+7/8
A friend of mine offered this to me. Less than 50 rounds through says SW polished before assembly and rare, made second year Model 60 was introduced. No box, very good condition. What is value?

You have a picture? Asking prices for a gun like yours are all over the map, as best as I can tell, ranging from the $350 range to well over $ 600. I'm guessing here, and others may correct me, but I'd say something north of $400 might be a reasonable market price.
I am, by the way, considering buying a 60 in either .38 or .357 or a model 36, so I've begun to pay fairly close attention to the asking prices. However, I'm still pretty much in the blind as to what sellers are getting for their guns.

If the serial number is in these ranges, it's an early factory high polish and usually sells for slight premium.

I've seen them NIB, unfired, complete bring $750

Be wary. Many polished M-60's were done by the prior owners, with metal polish. I've seen some so bright they looked like nickel plated guns.
Do confirm the serial number.
If you plan to use it, get a more recent one. Those marked M-60-4 or higher are factory Rated for use with Plus P ammo.
