I am wondering where I can run 2 serial numbers to see if either gun is a Lew Horton. They are both 44 mags and when I bought them, the guy said that one was a Horton but he did not remember which one. Can anyone help? Thanks

I just found the Lew Horton email and sent the numbers there. Maybe I can find out that way.

If you have the product code for them from the box I could tell you. If you don't, then send S&W an e-mail with SN and they will give you the product code. I have done this before.

One is serial #BBAxxxx and the product code is 103610 and Spec Ord 8193. The other is ALDxxx and the code is 103610 and Spec Ord is 6044.Revolver King, Thanks for your help

First the product code used, The S&W cat. says that that product code was used for many different variations. (not normal) There were 8000 RB 3" barrels made for Lew Horton made between 86 & 87. The ALD S/N falls in that range. It was produced in 1986 on the 44th day of the year (Feb. 86)
The BBA was produced in 1988 on the 193rd day of the year. (July 88) So if one of them is a Lew Horton, I would say it is the ALD S/N, But I can't say conclusively because that product code was used for many different variations. But it would be a 3" barrel w/round butt. sorry I could not be more help.

They are both SS 3" RB. The ALD one is ported and the other is not. I have both boxes but neither one says Horton on it but I don't know if it should.

If you are patient you can email them at: [email protected]

If you need to know now, call 508-366-7400. They are very helpful and will tell you if it is, when it was made, how many were produced and what the selling price is or was.

You can also call S&W and they can tell you from the Serial No. if it is a Lew Horton:
1-800-331-0852 (USA)
Mon-Fri 8:00AM-8:00PM Eastern Time

Thanks for the help guys. I actually called the Horton factory and spoke to a rep today. The ALD serial number is a 1 of 5000 Horton. A S&W rep told me the BBA serial number was run in 1988 for the Elliot Brothers. Any help on that???
