Is $730 to much? Md 629-5 2.5 inch-Fixed sights-PC 103839
I have this Md 629-5 2.5 inch gun on hold until I decide if it is a must have for me. I understand it is a product code-103839 which was a run of 300 guns for Camfour Dist in 2000. UGLY GRIPS! I think it is the only 2.5 inch fixed sight that Smith made. It is unfired in the box with all the papers. It would run me $730 shipped. I had told myself no more MIM guns but I may make an exception. Any thoughts?

I would do it. NIB, rare gun, and 44 mag.... seems worth it.

Jim,
Nice score...1 just sold on GB for $1076. I paid a little north of that from a forum member because it was NIB also. I could get a new -6 cheaper, but it has the lock..Notime2
I don't like the hollow sound of the hogue rubber grip, but I like how it fits my hand. I'm going with the hogue wood, but I can't chose between smooth or checkered yet, probably buy both.

I woulod be all over that! NIB and only 300 made for a specific distributor! You can always get your money back even if you shoot it if you decide you don't like it. Go for it!

What's the matter with MIM? I've never heard of a problem associated with S&W MIM components and while some guys complain, they look to me to be just what they are: gun parts. I'd buy it if I wanted a fixed-sight steel 44mag. The price is very reasonable.

Great looking gun.
Those grips may be ugly, but they are the best grips for a snubby N-frame that there are (IMHO).
I have a 3" 625-3 which has a beautiful set of wooden finger groove grips for photo's and a set of ugly hogues just like those for the range.
